The Wollongong Undergraduate Students’ Association (WUSA) is a student run organization that exists to provide students with services and to lobby the University of Wollongong, all levels of government and other relevant organizations to adopt policies favourable to the interests of students.
Services
WUSA is a not for profit organization that offers students a number of vital services at below market rates. These include free barbeques, free safe sex products, a $25 emergency loan scheme and 7c photocopying and printing. WUSA also operates a book exchange, where you can sell your old textbooks.
Advocacy
The Student Advocacy Service is a free, confidential and independent advocacy service that works closely with Wollongong University student associations (WUSA and WUPA). Our Student Advocacy Officer is available to provide support for students who need guidance in relation to administrative matters, appeals, grievances, misconduct allegations, supervision concerns, anti-discrimination and the University's policies and processes.
Lobbying and Activism
WUSA also plays a political role, campaigning for the rights of students on and off campus. In recent years WUSA has been involved in national campaigns for fair youth allowance, same sex marriage rights and public transport concessions for international students. WUSA has also been a strong voice in favour of UOW moving towards greener energy sources. WUSAs’ activist work is coordinated through its collectives.
Tertangala
WUSA produces the Tertangala, UOW’s foremost student publication. The Tertangala provides a space for students’ voices, as well as an independent perspective on uni life, news and various issues affecting students. Its pages are open to contributions from all students.
