The Education Action Collective

The Education Action Collective (EDAC) is a group for all students who want to be informed about and active on issues related to their education, university life and the broader community. The aim of EDAC is to encourage and mobilise a more active and aware student body which is able to affect changes which benefit them.

Our focus this year will centre on several major issues which affect UOW students. Foremost of these is ensuring the survival of the Wollongong Undergraduate Students’ Association (WUSA). The important services that WUSA provides, including a Book Bank, photocopying, faxing, emergency loans, car pooling, free student BBQs and especially advocacy and education campaigns, are vital to student life and education. Without WUSA, students of UOW have no control or input into their education and the running of their University. WUSA’s funding, in 2008, is far from ensured, its strength comes from your support; Don’t let the university take your voice away!!!

As well as ensuring the future of WUSA EDAC will also be aiming to improve the university life for students by:

  • Encouraging and strengthening the student community
  • Fighting to retain, restore and improve the services and assistance provided to students at UOW.
